Nice, quiet access away from the busy part of the park. A 3.5 mile trail leads into the more developed area. Hikes along hills in a hardwood upland.

This is a new Trailhead that joins up with the Grindstone trail in Pilot mountain state Park. It was very difficult to see the start of the trail. From the parking lot entrance, look left down hill. A sign saying Trail is on a tree at the start of the woods. I hope they make a more distinctive Trailhead marker soon.
The trail goes up and down small hills and winds around through pretty woods with occasional meadow views. Only went halfway to the trail in the park. It will be a nice trail when done.
